1961 Slingerland Brockstein’s drum set and snare
Brockstein’s was the legendary Houston, Texas, drum shop founded by drummer and businessman Herb Brochstein. The shop was famous for applying its own store badges over the original brands, like Ludwig, Slingerland, and Gretsch, on custom-rehabbed and sold drum kits. They also worked with notable drummers, such as DJ Fontana (Elvis) to whom Herb sold his personal kit. Herb also founded ProMark sticks, and when that company exploded in growth, he closed his shop in 1968.
This 1961 Slingerland drum set came from that shop, and it is in EXCELLENT condition!! Highly sought after by collectors, this beauty won’t last long. Especially in these sizes…8x12 rack, 14x14 floor, and 14x20 bass with a 6.5x14 snare. Mahogany shells w re-rings. Bearing edges and shells are excellent. 1961 stamp. All mufflers are intact. I did buy some reproduction “buttons” for the floor tom leg brackets as the originals were missing. This one is a gem!! AWESOME!!
